Resilience in Full Effect

Take it in, take it all in, savor every minute, every second, every single moment. Swirl, twirl, spin and cover yourself with this unbelievable feeling.

However, remember the power it holds over you at its highest, how inebriating it is, to be caught in the euphoria of the moment. I guarantee you, you will never want it to end. Just like a drug, it takes over you, opens your eyes wide and you think you are in control of it, but you will never be.

As long as it runs wild inside of you, like a burning fire, it will take charge. It will arrive in your life like a total surprise, fully unexpected especially for those like me, who like to predict and control the outcome of the everyday.

Then, as it makes its way into your heart and mind, it makes you forget everything around you. Your battles and struggles are paused, put to the side, and this fire inside you burns vividly. And you love it, you love every minute of it.

You still have that lucidity, underneath, reminding you two specific facts. Undeniable wake-up calls waiting to creep back in. This euphoria is temporary. It is captivating, enabling you to want more and more of it, wanting for it to never end. This euphoria is not reality. And yes, it will end as abruptly just as it came suddenly into your life.

Now, the real question is, now that you’ve seen the reality of things for what they really were, and now that this electrical feeling has left the building, how will you handle yourself? And there it is, for the first time, that certainty build within self. That insurance that certifies resilience, a guarantee of getting right back up as soon as that psychological punch was thrown.

There she is, that forever fighter, that tenacious soul who finally learned to love herself first and foremost. She needed a world-wide pandemic to face herself and force certain things. The pain of holding on to the past had to be flushed, thrown out of her heart once and for all. Goodbye, good riddance! Old wounds were slowly but surely healing.

She also understood that from now on that she would get up much quicker from any future disappointments or setbacks. That capacity was officially in her, in full effect, and she was unstoppable.

This is the bare minimum she owed to herself, and to her gem of a daughter, whose precious eyes would stare straight into her soul. Sometimes, that stare scared her, because it was so deep, but it was a request from that darling angel, and as an automatic vow of trust, her soul spoke:

« — I place my life and the outcome of my development in your hands mommy, please, take good care of me.

— My precious daughter, I promise you, I will take the right decisions for the both of us. I will always protect you.»
